Counselor Recommendations

Though we have in the past offered counseling and do so on a limited basis, we are currently at capacity for new patients. We believe counseling is such an important component of recovering from any number of hardships and therefore have provided a list of recommended counselors. The list of counselors below were carefully vetted and selected by Community Renewal.

Michael G Simpson

Msc, LPC, ACA

Have you have looked hard and walked long seeking a sense of wellness and peace of mind? Dealing with issues like depression, anxiety, substance use disorder, trauma, or any behavioral health or relationship issue can become overwhelming. In reality, these issues often occur together where symptoms of one can mimic another and symptoms of one can drive another, requiring experienced help. There is always a reliable way forward toward recovering health, no matter how long you have been struggling with your issues or relationships, or how hopeless they feel. Let me walk with you on your journey toward wellness.

Like a knowledgeable guide in the desert, I draw from many wells to find resources to refresh my clients as we walk together on their journeys toward strength and serenity. Therapeutic skills like CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy are some of many resource wells from which I draw. Helping build and improve key relationships is also important.

I find most of my clients have walked to near exhaustion to find wellness on their own. Let me help you find gentle stages, strengthening new resources, and reliable paths on your journey to health. You don’t have to do this alone. Let’s walk together until you are well on your way.

Skylar Cook

The fact that you are reading this says a great deal about you. Despite the circumstances you are facing and the pain you are trying to deal with there is something inside of you that’s helping you to keep going, and to try to find a way through the mess and the pain. My hope is to join you in your journey through this mess and pain. I am not the expert on your life, you are. However, I will work to meet you where you are at, hear your story, and together we can go from there.

I am influenced by certain ideas and theories, but I am not going to try and make your story fit into a certain mold. We are going to work together to make sure what happens in our sessions reflects your needs and your goals. I specialize in working with teens, couples (both married and pre-marital), and individuals struggling w/ depression and anxiety.

I am passionate about therapy because it is a relational process. Therapy is about connecting with someone, being seen and heard, and in that process discovering something about yourself which helps you move forward. Please e-mail me or visit my website to set up an appointment. I’ll see you soon.
